Cover Girl

31 Dec

What an amazing adventure it’s been these last few months, not to mention this whole year!

But, I’ll spare you that nostalgia trip for now. Right now, I want to talk about yet another dream come true. In case if you missed my original social media SQUEEEs a little over a month ago, I’m ridiculously excited to announce that one of my deepest wishes came true on November 7, 2015: I made it. I made COVER. Surreal Beauty Magazine’s Issue 298 cover model!

Surreal Beauty Magazine, Issue 298, November 2015, “Revolution”

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, modeling had only been a distant fantasy growing up, which I later “fell into” by way of seemingly unrelated events. Becoming the cover model for this magazine was no exception.

Butterflies n Blooms. This was my first photo shoot with Yellow Bubbles and Spoiled Cherry, and it was originally done as a surprise Valentine’s Day gift earlier this year for my husband. Applying for publication is always an option, so I figured, “Hey, why not?” Months passed, and I gave up hope on this photo set ever getting published. “At least it was a great gift, and I had so much fun doing it!”

Almost 11 months after the photo shoot in the evening of November 4, I received an unexpected message from Temira of Yellow Bubbles:

Omg! Your butterflies n blooms set in the woods just landed a cover!! I need a short bio from you asap!! Comes out tomorrow she said! Congrats!!!

I scrambled to write my bio. It was by far one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. My mind was blank.

Note: having an outline is your best friend in this situation.

Done and sent. The waiting game (and constant monitoring) began.

A few days later, there I was:

It’s surreal (hyuk hyuk) to see my face displayed so prominently on someone else’s Facebook page, let alone on the front of a magazine!

BIG thanks again to Amber (Spoiled Cherry) for the amazing wardrobe, make up styling, and coaching my noob-model self and Temira (Yellow Bubbles Photography) for the amazing photography, direction, patience, and perseverance on getting my set published. Without you, my dream would not have come true.

Blessings continued to pour in as the clock counted down to my last hours as a twenty-something. I’ll share the galactic events which unfolded a couple weeks ago in my next blog post, but this is by far one of the best birthday gifts I could ever hope for. Too good to be true. I’m afraid I’ll find myself waking up from a dream.
